Board & Brew Website Redesign

Tools: Figma, Adobe Illustrator

Challenge

Board & Brew’s website presented significant accessibility and usability barriers that made it difficult for users to find essential information and engage with the business, despite the cafe’s strong in-person and social media presence. The goal is to improve the visual design of the website to help increase engagement with a broader audience.

Role

Visual Designer, responsible for improving accessibility, restructuring page layouts, and aligning the website’s visual quality with the brand’s in-store and social experience.

Impact

01 Responsive Usability Across Devices

Reorganized layouts to function reliably across multiple screen sizes, ensuring the website remained usable on mobile, tablet, and desktop devices. This improved reach and reduced friction for users accessing the site on the go.

02 Improved Accessibility & Inclusivity

Redesigned page layouts and information hierarchy to better support users with accessibility needs. These changes reduced barriers to access and made critical information easier to locate for a wider range of users.

03 Brand Consistency & Trust

Updated the visual design to match the polish and personality of Board & Brew’s social media presence. Aligning the website with the brand’s existing reputation helped set clearer expectations for the in-store experience.

04 Functional Menu Experience

Replaced a static image of the physical menu with an interactive digital menu component designed specifically for web use. This improved readability, reduced maintenance friction, and allowed users to explore offerings more intuitively.

Lessons Learned & Next Steps

This project reinforced how accessibility and usability issues directly impact engagement and perception. A next step would be validating the redesign through user testing and exploring lightweight content updates that allow staff to maintain menu information more easily over time.
